The Point In Time (PIT) Count is an annual, federally-mandated count of individuals experiencing homelessness on a specific night in January. This snapshot provides an estimate of the region’s houseless population. This year’s PIT count date is January 23rd. Over the course of 7 days beginning on the 23rd and ending on January 30th, provider staff and volunteers across Central Oregon will count how many individuals were experiencing sheltered or unsheltered homelessness on the night of January 23rd. This important data collection opportunity provides a look at who in Central Oregon is experiencing homelessness and why. The resulting data is also shared across the region in an effort to prevent and end homelessness through collaboration and regional strategic planning.
