Local Community Forestry Projects
- Upper Deschutes River Coalition
- The UDRC works to enable the neighborhoods of the Upper Deschutes Watershed to act collectively on natural resource problems within the region.
- Prineville Juniper Working Group
A collection of stakeholders invested in restoring watershed health, creating family wage jobs, and developing juniper products. - Friends of the Metolius
The Friends of the Metolius are dedicated to protecting the legacy and natural resources of the Metolius Basin. - The Nature Conservancy Global Fire Initiative - Northwest FLN Page
The TNC's Global Fire Initiative works with partners to find solutions that allow fire to play a role in places where it benefits nature and people, and keep fire out of places where it is destructive
Fire Risk Reduction Programs
- FireWise
A national organization that seeks to engage multiple parties in proactive approaches to reducing fire risks. The site contains tips for homeowners on how to create and maintain defensible space. - FireFree
A Deschutes County based organization promoting steps homeowners can take to minimize wildfire risk. Local links including dates of free yard debris drop off days are on this site.
