The Intermountain Wood Energy company processes small diameter wood products from stewardship projects into firewood for wholesale and retail markets. Loren and Scott Kellogg, a father-son duo, started by purchasing equipment, contracting with local loggers, processing the wood, and marketing their product locally and regionally. In spring 2009 COIC worked with IWE to conduct a market analysis for the Central Oregon region, connecting them with local retailers, determining the volume and products sold in the region, and assisting with tax credits and incentive programs.
